Sam Tabar, a licensed attorney, practicing law in the Ney York State attended Oxford University where he graduated with MA and BA in Law in 2000. He then joined Columbia School of Law, serving as an Associate Editor of the Columbia Business Law Review. He then joined Skadden, Slater, Arps, Meager and Flom LLP, the world’s most prestigious law firms as an Associate after his graduation from Columbia in2001.
Bloomberg seems to indicate that Sam Tabar counseled clients on formation and structure of the hedge fund, side letters, management agreements, employment issues, private placement memoranda, regulatory and compliance issues. Sam left Skadden in 2004 joining the world of high finance at PMA Investment Advisors, which is a unit of the Sparx Group Co. located in Hong Kong. At PMA, Sam Tabar managed and worked on all the facets of global marketing together with investor relations for a total of $ 2 billion hedge fund. As About.me points out Sam also managed to design and execute a strategic marketing plan for his company which targeted large family offices, institutional investors and the ultra-high net worth clients from around the world. Sam provided his firm with over 2000 qualified investors and managed to develop over 400 new investor introductions.
Sam joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as the Head of Capital Strategy and Director of the Asia-Pacific region in February 2011. During his time,he managed to provide the firm’s hedge clients with counsel targeting useful introductions to investors such as foundations, endowments, funds of funds, pensions, and large family offices. He also helped in the management of the entire capital allocations cycle between the investors and the managers.
During his tenure at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Tabar managed to come up with a supplemental Rolodex consisting of more than 1,250 institutional investors. However, Tabar left Bank of America Merrill Lynch in September 2012 joining Adanac LLC, BVI as Director. He managed to invest in American startups and properties including Verboten and Thinx.
Sam Tabar rejoined the legal world in 2013 joining Zabel LLP and Schulte Roth as a Senior Associate catering for the hedge funds. He, however, left the firm in March 2014. Sam Tabar major career break was when he worked for the PMA. PMA is where he started managing the hedge funds.
